A SUMMARY
It's the perfect time to embrace something new! Weaving is the perfect new hobby to do at home, in the park, on the beach or even on the train. You will learn the basics of weaving during a 3-hour workshop with me, a weave lecturer at the University of Brighton and the founder of Shiv Textiles, a Brighton-based sustainable textiles studio. Create your own wonderful woven wall hanging in this beginners class. Working on a small handheld frame loom, you'll learn how to start and finish weaves, explore different fibres and craft a range of simple and effective techniques. Using your hands to create something is super important even more so in this modern age, when everyone is working on computers or are on their phones. Research shows that making things with your hands is great for decreasing stress, relieving anxiety and improving mental health. You can carry on weaving at home after the course with your own mini loom and yarn. These materials are available to purchase for an extra £15 at the end of each session. Book now and discover the art of weaving!

When your mentor provides a strapline it will go here
Hi, I'm Siobhan and it's a pleasure to meet you! I launched Shiv Textiles in September 2018, a contemporary textiles studio which is sustainably-minded and based in Brighton. I specialise in ethical woven textiles, offering unique contemporary soft woollen products, design consultancy services, commission weaving, and trend-led handwoven fabric collections. My studio aims to re-establish what local means alongside global economies. Producing locally while inspiring and investing in creative community-driven workshops. Creating and promoting traditional craftwork in textiles. Focusing to minimise ecological damage while maximising the efficiency in production processes. I fell in love with weaving while studying at the University of Brighton. In 2016 I graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Textiles with Business Studies BA(Hons). Over the years I have interned at international companies such as Woven Studios, Malhia Kent-Paris, Ben Sherman, Stephen Walter, David Walters, Humphries Weaving Company and Bliss Magazine. When I'm not weaving away, I'm creating interiors for Luke Williams Design Ltd or lecturing 1st year weavers at the University of Brighton. I love what I do and wouldn't change it for the world.
