A summary
We will discuss the history and importance of natural cordage, I will demonstrate a technique for making various types of cordage, discuss how to increase it's strength and durability and we will then practice making cordage together and test it for strength. There will be the opportunity to use nettles, brambles, grass or other natural materials. I will show you how we can use different plants and there will be an opportunity to experiment with different materials. We will also discuss how to share this skill with others.
About your mentor
Xanthe Green
Lover of the woodlands, tender of wild spaces
I believe that the woodlands are calling our children back to them, for they bring the magic back. We are all interconnected. I am passionate about creating fun, safe spaces for young people to find community and be held in a culture with a strong focus on empathy, co-creation, inclusion and mentorship as we learn about and how to protect our wild spaces together. I work mainly with home-educated older children and have many outdoor education leadership certifications, including Call of the Wild and Tending the Green Fire (Wildwise), Forest School level 3 and the Art of Mentoring. I run my own Forest School groups and work freelance for Wildwise and Embercombe in Devon.

My experience consists of a leisure activity, on a specific date(s), and therefore the 14-day ‘cooling off period’ under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply.
