What we'll do
Welcome to the wonderful world of plant fibres! In this two hour workshop learn how to select and prepare a variety of native plants and turn them into cordage. I'll also bring along some ready-made examples for you to see and some dryed plants and pre-prepared fibres from home. We'll learn techniques to extract fibres from plants like Common nettle and Bramble. We can also experiment with Daffodil, Leek and Banana! We'll learn the simple technique for making fibres into cordage and create some different examples which you can coil up, label and take with you for reference. If there's time, we'll make a little treasure to take home too

I've worked for different organisations over the last 30 years, providing environmental education and conservation projects, leading volunteer groups, delivering Forest School programmes to a wide range of client groups, running nature connection and guided walk programmes and providing events for family, adult, school, home ed and early years groups. I am now freelance and continue to deliver a range of nature connection experiences for children, families and adults, including supporting those with mental health needs. I also offer CPD for teaching staff and Early Years professionals and a range of outdoor workshops.
