A summary
The benefits of running are endless, but we know how difficult it can be to get started. Where would I go? Will I be able to keep up? I don't want to hold anyone back. I won't know anyone. We all have these anxieties, but that’s why Couch to 5k is such an amazing course. By mixing running into walking, we can gradually increase the amount of running at a comfortable pace, so it doesn't seem an impossible task. There will be no one left behind because at every session we will have a very friendly Heart and Sole Tailwalker. The experienced tailwalkers are amazing at offering support and encouragement without pushing. Claire, from Heart and Sole Runners, is the Run Leader and she will be there to guide and motivate you throughout the 9-week course. We encourage chatting and integrating into the group, but if you don't want to talk, then that’s fine, we might all feel too out of breath to talk anyway! By the end of the 9-week course we will finish with an epic 5k. If this is something that you would like to achieve and 2024 is your year, book your place today and learn what your body is capable of. We will meet every Tuesday and Thursday by the shelter on Sea Road, opposite Grosvenor Gardens. If possible please arrive at the meeting point 10 minutes before the scheduled time, to allow for hello's and a warmup before setting off. Physical activity sessions for everyone!
Active Hastings is an externally funded partnership project between Hastings Borough Council and East Sussex County Council Public Health. We have been working in partnership since 2006 to give local residents easy, fun ways to get their everyday dose of physical activity. It only takes 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity each week for adults and 60 minutes every day for children to benefit your health, both mental and physical. You can even break it down into 10 minute slots! All of our team are experienced sports coaches, fitness instructors and play workers, who are passionate about working with people of all ages in Hastings and St Leonards. We run free or low cost sessions throughout the year, as well as holiday activities as part of the Holiday Activity and Food programme.

Hello. I am a Run Leader with the Hastings and St Leonards On Sea based run group Heart and Sole. I started running regularly 6 years ago and it has been an amazing positive experience! To learn what your body can do is amazing and I am continuously learning.
