A SUMMARY
Come on an adventure to my delightful garden art studio in the heart of Forest Row. We will be exploring art in all varieties from pop art and watercolour to African print making with the focus on real artist techniques and materials and most importantly - having fun! Every week we will start with some lively warm up exercises such as one minute portraits, blind drawing and speedy surreal collages before starting our first activity. This term, for example, we will be making Roy Liechtenstein portraits using his classic Benday Dot style, magical watercolour moons and print making using the kente cloth method. I believe in providing children with high quality art materials. This is included in the cost of the session. The Pop Dot Art Chalet has it's own garden with a picturesque weeping willow cascading onto the grass. We will be working outside where possible and including observations of nature in our work. Parents and younger siblings are very welcome to observe and tea and coffee making facilities will be available. In the summer holidays I'm planning to create a regular holiday club where children can work on longer projects over a whole day. Please see separate listing coming soon. I'm very flexible with days and times so please message me or use the 'Show Interest' heart grid if you would like to discuss alternatives.
About your mentor
Poppy Doyle
When your mentor provides a strapline it will go here
I have been studying art for many years in Brighton where I completed my Art Foundation diploma with a distinction grade at Greater Brighton Metropolitan College and more recently my degree in Textiles at the University of Brighton. I grew up in Forest Row and have spent most of my childhood at Michael Hall School. I adore making art with my two children and the joy it gives them to be creating something wonderful is very special to me. In my spare time I enjoy travelling to new places, visiting museums and art galleries as well as participating in workshops and learning new skills. I am a keen amateur photographer and currently work with brands to create lifestyle content on my instagram @popdotpoppy. I am passionate about self development and I love to keep healthy and fit with yoga, healthy mindful eating and sustainable living with a bit of cake thrown in for good measure :-)
