A summary
THE 26TH JULY DATE HERE IS A PRIVATE DAY FOR REBECCA & FRIENDS. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN ARCHERY DAY, THEN PLEASE SEE THE SEPARATE LISTING FOR 'PUBLIC' DAYS, TITLED "ARCHERY DAYS" - I HAVE SESSIONS RUNNING ON 12TH and 13TH AUGUST. Half day (well, 5 hour) archery sessions for groups or families, on an archery range in a beautiful private woodland in Sussex. Either: 1. Form your own private group of friends / family, come to me and we set a date, or 2. Let me know you are interested, and I can assemble a 'public' group of others who have also expressed an interest. In either case, use the 'contact mentor' button here. Archery is SO COOL. And it can be explored from many different angles, it doesn't just have to involve straining to get high scores. Sessions can be tailored according to the group's desires. Generally, expect more games than straight-up lessons; this is not an 'archery school' vibe. However, coaching will always be offered for those who desire it, or have reached a point where it's constructive. Typical plan looks like this: 10.00 Meet up and walk in 10.30 Archery safety / demo 10.45 Archery session 11.45 Break 12.15 Archery session 1.15 Packed lunch 2.00 Archery session 3.00 End ...so it's most of the day really. I prefer this long-form approach rather than hour-long sessions, as you can really sink into it, shoot loads of arrows, play games too, and have enough practice for a bit of technique to coalesce. Drinks and snacks provided, participants bring packed lunch. For an all-child group, one adult must be present (they can participate as part of the group, or just supervise). Minimum group size of 4 participants. Prices vary according to group size: 10 -12 people = £30 per person 6 - 9 people = £35pp 4 - 5 people = £40pp Get in touch to discuss, and make sure you visit www.chrispacke.com for more information.
About your mentor
Chris Packe
Wild guide
Chris spent 15 years in investment banking, followed by 10 years in the woods. He is particularly fired up by running events and programmes that relate to men / fathers, and to teenagers. This comes to life as nature-based youth mentoring programmes – year courses for teens such as Wolf Pack for Boys and for Girls (13-15 years) and Call to Adventure (boys aged 11-13 years), as well as Feral Fathers (feisty weekend events for fathers and sons / daughters) and convening a monthly men’s fire circle (since 2015). In addition, he does work that is variously described as coaching, mentoring and guiding (he is a qualified hill walking guide, and an archery instructor), and also sketch comedy, writing, cartooning and songwriting. Chris also finds himself owning a piece of woodland - a place to work, experiment and often to just go to alone and sleep in. He lives in Forest Row and has two children.
Some testimonials
"Loved experiencing your woods and thought the range was great. I also loved the way you held the day... engaged with us all when the timing was going off track, gave us just enough instruction at just the right pace and I really learnt a lot from your coaching. In fact, the only question for me was how to do it again!!" Rebecca, 2023 "I liked the size of group and that you got lots of goes. Weird how in the past on other archery times I was always frustrated I never had enough arrows. The set up in the woods and range is great. I love the arrow holders :) We love all the little bits you make like the hand washing things. Makes it inspiring and warming to the place. I appreciated your instruction and technique tips.. as you said enough to focus on and not too much at once and then individual tips for each persons next thing. As always I appreciate the way you lead and hold the wants of the group and lead the direction of the day. It’s fab the rapport you have with the kids." Tom, 2023 "Ah, thanks so much again for everything! It was just a brilliant, brilliant day out." Heather, 2023
