A summary
What is coasteering? Coasteering is a unique, family-friendly activity on the Dorset coastline scaling rocky outcrops and jumping into the sea below. Coasteering is one of the best outdoor activities in Dorset and a unique way to explore the Jurassic Coast. Join our experienced instructors for action-packed session scrambling over rocks, exploring sea caves, sea swimming and jumping into the water below. This fun-filled sea and cliff-based adventure activity is suitable for all children aged 8 and over and is tailored to the needs and ability of your group. It’s the perfect choice for intrepid families holidaying in Dorset, a great option for birthdays or just for a great day out. The Jurassic Coast All of our coasteering sessions take place at Dancing Ledge, a scenic location on the world-famous Jurassic Coast. Meet us at our base, before kitting up and making the scenic 15-minute walk to our starting location for a memorable day out. Once we reach our cliff side location, the instructors will give a thorough safety briefing and explain how to enter and exit the water. You’ll then follow a pre-established route along the cliff face, where you’ll have the chance to do some low level climbing and cave exploration, before experiencing the thrill of jumping from ledges into the sea. Along the way you’ll discover hidden coastal secrets and experience the beauty of the Dorset coast from a completely unique perspective. This activity is the exploration of a rocky coastline, involving swimming (realistic expectation of 350m total over the course), jumping from height, entering caves, and being affected by moving water. The National Coasteering Charter recognises that coasteering is an activity with the danger of personal injury or death. The sea is a dynamic environment, and conditions can change. Cumulus instructors continually monitor swell and tides before and during your sessions. You will be required to swim and move around in breaking waves and water with currents. It is important that you are confident in the water and be able to swim 50 metres in a buoyancy aid and 10 metres unaided. Coasteering also involves a steep hillside walk to the activity venue. Can you please make sure that this information is passed on to ALL participants. Thank you.
