A SUMMARY
Alison will be facilitating wisdom & embodiment classes. The children (7-10 yrs) will be held and guided in a safe, creative and inspiring space so they can fully express who they are through; visualization, meditation, yoga, breath work, many different styles of dance, music, story telling, drawing, gymnastics and circle sharing. Children will: Increase overall self-awareness through body/mind practices Feel more connected, empowered and creative Cultivate a growth mind-set Increase their emotional, social and kinesthetic intelligence The format of the class will vary week to week depending on who is in the class and how they are feeling that day. They will work individually, in pairs and as a group depending on the practice. What a class may look like: Example 1- Begin in a circle for check-ins to share their ideas, stories or how they are feeling. Sometimes there is a theme or questions to provoke their beliefs. Followed by visualizing the body, exploring different breathing techniques into yoga. We may do some connection games and then let loose during freestyle movement (5 rhythms ish) with music. We'll end by coming back to circle to share our experiences, feelings and ask questions. Example 2- Begin in circle for check-ins. Followed by stretching with music and learning to isolate the body parts as well as identifying them. We'll move into fine and gross motor movements across the room. Learning some basic gymnastics skills followed by learning contemporary choreography and how to count music. We'll close with a stillness meditation or drawing a mandala of their experience and sharing with the group. Optional: I love building community, so after our class we'll eat lunch and play at Pells park for social time in nature. 12:30-1:30. Please wear comfortable clothing, bring a yoga mat, water bottle and a lunch if you'd like to stay after class.
