A summaryWe have been running Forest School at Glottenham for nearly 12 years, working with local schools, Home education and Scout groups and more recently with ESCC
This is our forth year of HAF provision
Amongst our team we have 2 qualified level 3 forest school practitioners, a Medical herbalist, a Dr of archaeology, artists, craftspeople, science under graduates, and between us many years of environmental, conservation and outdoor learning experience.
We have seen first hand how engagement with nature has a huge beneficial effect on people both young and old, and really enjoy how tech and social media quickly get forgotten as they get engrossed in what they are doing.
This Easter we are offering one two day course for children aged 11-16, with 12 places available.
***This activity has been funded through the Department for Education’s (DfE) Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme and coordinated by East Sussex County Council. Free places are available for young people eligible for benefits-related free school meals. This eligibility criteria has been defined by the DfE. Additionally young people in several other target cohorts can attend funded places, such as those with SEND or Looked After Children (LAC). Please note, eligibility will be confirmed as part of the booking process.***
IMPORTANT INFOWe run a series of two day courses across the year, which will take place outside. Participants will need suitable warm clothing and to be able to attend and book both days for each course they attend. PLEASE BOOK BOTH DAYS OF THE COURSE and please ONLY BOOK FOR ONE BLOCK/WEEK as the course will be repeated on subsequent weeks.
Also note the age range of 11-16 years old, KS3 and KS4 only
Our forest school specialises in helping build confidence in children who are nervous/ shy and have anxiety problems, and we do a lot of work with children with an ASD diagnosis.
Because of the location and nature of activities /tools we do not work with children with behavioural or complex needs, although we are happy to discuss separate provision that may be more suitable. If you have questions about your child's suitability please get in touch.
