About your mentors
Francesca Signore
Usually known as Froo
I qualified as a Forest School leader in 2014 and have delivered sessions to a wide range of participants, predominantly primary aged children from a special school. I am passionate about the benefits of Forest School, and as a Trustee of the Forest School Association believe - and deliver - 'full fat' Forest School. I am never happier than when outdoors and learning; much of the CPD I have attended has been around needs-based approaches and behaviour. I have been studying Choice Theory since 2019 and attained Certification in April 2022.
Jon Cree
Smiley ecological trainer and teacher
I am an outdoor ecological trainer and pedagogue. Co-author of recently acclaimed 'The Essential Guide to Forest School and Nature Pedagogy' and 'Storytelling for Deeper Nature Connection'. I love nothing more than paddling rivers with my family and on my own, and telling tales around the fire. My career has been one of utter joy, playing and working with learners, often marginalised and challenged by societal systems,...mostly in the woods. I am based in Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire..land of hills, rivers and many woods and orchards!
What we'll do
The course, through discussion and activities, will include: • What do behaviours communicate and reframing ‘challenging behaviour’ – what does anxiety,‘stressed behaviour’ and socially/ecologically engaged behaviour look like? • The 3 C’s – Models for working with behaviour • Why outdoors? – What needs does the natural world cater for? • Interventions & De-escalation – ways of working with behaviours • A 'needs – based’ approach and what needs the outdoors satisfy. • How to work with various ‘needs’ from neuro-typical through to various ‘attachment’ needs, including ASD, sensory attachments and many other ‘labels’! • Working with brain, body and place – how the nervous system works. Co- regulation and self -regulation - the essential body based approaches • Self- care - Looking after ourselves • Reviewing policy & procedures relating to behaviour and safety. Working in partnership with our client groups

My experience consists of a leisure activity, on a specific date(s), and therefore the 14-day ‘cooling off period’ under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply.
