Congratulations! You have your University placement accepted or have decided to "fly the nest." Now it's time to think about how you're going to look after yourself whilst you're away from home... Cooking healthily on a budget is not only a great life skill but also, a great way to make new friends and navigate your way through your new environment. Learn how to keep your brain alert, your energy levels high and your mental health in check by cooking healthy and inexpensive meals. We'll be discussing basic nutritional needs, basic food safety, food storage, basic equipment requirements, grocery shopping tips and myth busters and the importance of socializing through cooking and eating together. We will learn in a variety of ways - handouts, demonstrations, hands on cookery and preparation but always, at the end of each day, we will sit and eat the meal we have created together.
