What we'll do
The purpose of the day is to give aspiring trainees and qualified leaders the opportunity to learn, share, develop skills and network together. The format of our day will be based around the needs of the group and will be learner-led with support from both Ged and Froo. Activities could include (but are not limited to) tarps, shelters and knots; fire lighting and cooking together; woodland games and activities; tool use and support with challenges we have faced. Hot drinks, snacks and lunch (cooked over the fire) are all included. We are hopeful that this workshop will become part of a valued professional support network in our region.
About your mentors
Francesca Signore
Usually known as Froo
I qualified as a Forest School leader in 2014 and have delivered sessions to a wide range of participants, predominantly primary aged children from a special school. I am passionate about the benefits of Forest School, and as a Trustee of the Forest School Association believe - and deliver - 'full fat' Forest School. I am never happier than when outdoors and learning; much of the CPD I have attended has been around needs-based approaches and behaviour. I have been studying Choice Theory since 2019 and attained Certification in April 2022.

Loves 'Being' in the woods.
My background is in education as teacher and Curriculum leader. Once I discovered outdoor education and Forest School, there was no way back. I have 20+ years in education, 10 years as a L3 FS Leader and BELA trained (DofE). I am completing my dissertation for my MA in Outdoor and Experiential Education from The University of Cumbria as well as a L3 in Advanced Therapeutic Wilderness Interventions with EQE. I am an aspiring Mountain Leader and love the woods, mountains, hammock camping and woodland skills and crafts. I believe strongly in the educational and therapeutic benefits of the outdoors.

My experience consists of a leisure activity, on a specific date(s), and therefore the 14-day ‘cooling off period’ under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply.
