What we'll do
How to keep your FS participants alive if it all goes wrong in the woods. An opportunity to revitalise fading first aid skills and confidence by having a go at some practical first aid scenarios set in a Forest School context. A workshop for previously first aid trained FS practitioners to have a go at some hands on, get down on the floor, draped over a log or hanging out of a tree, first aid action. It will be perfectly okay to “kill” your casualty during the session – it’s a good learning experience whilst training. Prior first aid knowledge will be essential, we’re not starting at the basics. There will be no powerpoints involved. You will need to be dressed suitably for kneeling and lying on the floor outside in whatever weather we are lucky enough to receive. Please note, the session will not give you a first aid qualification.
About your mentors
Chris Leleux
First Aid trainer and Forest School advocate.
Chris is a trained Forest School practitioner and full time first aid trainer, delivering 25 – 30 outdoor based first aid courses every year. He is also the first aid qualifications manager for ITC First and is involved in writing national first aid qualifications and steering the national first aid guidance in a range of settings, but specialising in the outdoors. He particularly enjoys attending the FSA Conference (this is his sixth one) meeting old (and new) friends, having a bit of a dance and generally getting led astray by people who should know better.
Nic Harding
Project's Officer at FSA
As the Project Officer, I'm pleased to be organising the annual Forest School Association Conference. I am appearing as a Mentor on each workshop to give me oversight and allow me to help out on the day, I may not actually be on your workshop.
