A summary
At South Brockwells Farm School we provide a mini farmers club for children to learn about the vital role of farming in our lives, develop their understanding of where food comes from, the work and skills required to care for animals and essential, transferable life skills. We shall be learning how to work with and care for our animals on the farm that includes 180 sheep and currently almost 300 lambs, 80 goats, chickens, ducks, numerous ponies and of course, Dexter the pet goat and Boomer the Shetland! Working in small groups, children will have the opportunity to work with and care for a range of our animals throughout Mini Farmer days. *** This activity has been funded through the Department for Education’s (DfE) Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme and coordinated by East Sussex County Council. Free places are available for young people eligible for benefits-related free school meals. This eligibility criteria has been defined by the DfE. Additionally young people in several other target cohorts can attend funded places, such as those with SEND or Looked After Children (LAC). Please note, eligibility will be confirmed as part of the booking process.***
About your mentors
Caroline Tasker
Teacher / Equestrian / Farmer
Hi! Thank you for looking at our Mini Farmers Holiday Club at South Brockwells Farm. I'm Caroline, a fully qualified teacher and a former Deputy Head of a large secondary school who loves all things horsey and farming! Having had horses and ridden for most of my life, I was excited to launch South Brockwells Farm School with Chrissy Wells (Farmer) earlier this year which combines my love for teaching, working with children and working with animals. Chrissy brings a wealth of farming knowledge to the team and manages the livestock and land brilliantly. Together we run Mini Farmers to give children and young people the opportunity to come and enjoy, and learn about our animals.
