What we'll do
The pupils will be collected by Rebecca outside the Year 3 classrooms after school. We will put on boots and waterproofs before we head into the woodland to explore, be creative, play, learn games, use tools and many more activities. In the event of bad weather, we will remain up at the school to try some nature based crafts. We are also joined by Harriet, so that we can offer a safe environment with 2 adults to supervise and help the children, especially when we are using tools or having a fire. At the end of the club we will exit from big metal gate at the bottom of the field. If your child is returning to the school building for after school club, then we will walk them back to school after the other children have been collected. If there is extreme rain or high winds, then we will run in one of the Year 4 classrooms and collection will be at the school gate from the playground. A message will be sent on Eequ via your email before the session is due to begin. We can’t wait to see your child at Woodland & Craft Club for lots of fun. In order for them to feel warm and happy, they must bring appropriate clothing and footwear to change into. This is especially important at this time of year and can often be the difference between your child enjoying themselves or not. Long trousers or leggings are essential. They are also welcome to bring a snack for after school, along with their water bottle.
About your mentor
Rebecca at Leafy Learners
I'm happiest in nature
Hello, I am Rebecca and I will be leading the Woodland Club at Earlswood. I teach Year 1 for part of the week and I also run forest school inspired learning for toddlers at our site in Horley. Having taught across the primary age year groups since 2005, I enjoy teaching conventional subjects alongside learning about the natural world, whilst being outdoors. I love seeing children experience nature first hand and learning how to walk with wonder is our motto at Leafy Learners!
