What we'll do
Come and join us to learn all about working with natural dyes. Fiona Eastwood will lead the workshop in the beautiful surroundings of Saddlescombe farm, just at the bottom of Devil's Dyke. The workshop will explore how to dye with locally grown traditional dyeing plants, such as madder and woad, as well as some foraged plants. There will be a list of suggestions for plant material to forage and we are planning to do some foraging too. You'll also have a go at creating patterns using shibori dyeing techniques; a Japanese dyeing technique that involves folding, bunching, or bundling fabric. There will also be time to explore the dye garden of Saddlescombe farm. Tea and coffee will be available. Please bring your own pack lunch. Fiona will have some natural yarn for sale for anyone interested in knitting/weaving. Payment in cash please, sorry no card reader available. Fiona's Instagram is fiona_eastwood, if you want to check out her work. We're dyeing to see you there!!
