What we'll do

The day will begin with tea, coffee and cakes, provided by Alison at The Oast Bakery, while we get to know each other. We will then start by learning the different parts of the sewing machine, how to thread it up, wind up a matching bobbin and try various different stitches and seam finishes.  You will be taught how to understand the qualities of different fabrics and how to cut accurately, using a paper pattern. Each flag will be stitched together inside out and then turned to give a neat and double sided finish so that your bunting will look perfect from all directions. While we are doing all this, Alison at The Oast Bakery will be beavering away in the kitchen with local organic ingredients, whipping up a delicious lunch. About your Mentor

About your Mentor

Annabelle

I have always believed in the value of learning with our hands. More and more, we live in a world where anything and everything can be obtained at the touch of a button or the swipe of a screen, but this lacks the essential human connection and results in our increasing disconnection from the material world. I work with both private and commercial clients making cushions, bags, homeware and all manner of other sewing projects as bespoke commissions. I have worked with Molly Mahon for the last 7 years, alongside teaching group and one to one workshops. I have over 15 years' experience teaching both children and adults how to work with fabric and textiles.

Learning aims

To be able to set up a sewing machine correctly and thread a matching bobbin.

I am not able to offer refunds in general but may be able to if there is good notice.
