What we'll do
In these three sessions, we will be expanding your creativity with words in a playful way. We will use inspiration from music, artwork, literature and nature to spark your creative voices. Using a variety of different stimuli and writing exercises, we will loosen any blocked creativity and develop techniques to create a sense of character and place in your writing.
About your mentor
Sarah Rutherford
I'm an English Teacher, Yoga Teacher and mum.
I am a dynamic, nurturing Teacher of English who is passionate about my students' development and well-being. I taught English Literature and Language at Alleyn's (a leading independent school for children aged 11 to 18 in London) for five years before moving to Sussex with my young family in 2020 where I have since been tutoring. The vast majority of my students gained As and A*s (and 8s and 9s under the new 9-1 system) at GCSE and A Level. As a qualified Yoga Teacher, I developed the school's well-being programme by introducing Yoga and Meditation classes to teenagers and staff and my English lessons integrate breathing spaces and a holistic creativity informed by my practice. I have a PGCE, a First-Class degree in English Literature from Durham University and a Distinction in my MA in Twentieth-Century English Literary Studies and this love for my subject permeates all my classes, both group and one-to-one.
