A summary
Join us for a day of fireside basket weaving and foraging in a beautiful private woodland. This is an Introduction to the ancient, creative craft of basket weaving and hedgerow foraging. We will use natural materials found within our local environments to create a beautiful handcrafted foraging basket which we can then use to collect hedgerow plants to make into medicine over a fire. The darker and colder months are a time for rest, regeneration and reflection. A time when the earth’s energy slows and we feel this mirrored within. Sow your intentions for the New Year by reconnecting to the natural world. Throughout these sessions we will interweave a nature-connection mediation practice to help us reconnect with those parts of us that are longing to felt again.
About your mentor
Project Rewild
Led by Polly Palmer
Polly Palmer is a qualified and experienced mindfulness teacher specialising in nature based approaches. Polly completed her mindfulness teacher training with the NHS at the Sussex Mindfulness Centre in Brighton (SMC). She chose to train at SMC as it is recognised as one of the top three mindfulness training centres in the country. Polly runs 8-week Mindfulness Based Nature Connection courses in a Hastings woodland. She also works in partnership with Claire Thompson, together they run a Permaculture meets Mindfulness group for adults where they grow food, work with plant medicine and connect with nature. Polly teaches basic sensory awareness techniques to children in a nourishing woodland environment. She also work directly with Luke Funnell, founder of Project Rewild. Together they co-run Rewilding and Mindfulness day courses for adults. I have a passion for bringing Mindfulness practice into nature and I'm committed to working towards making mindfulness practices available for all who want to learn them. Claire Thompson has previously worked for the ambulance service and for the NHS as an occupational therapy assistant. Claire is also a passionate and experienced permaculture gardener, and has been working on a no dig allotment site for the last 3 years. ‘There is no deeper connection than that of growing your own food, nurturing seedlings, and learning from the land. It takes patience persistence and acceptance, nature teaches us about ourselves in a way that transcends time and culture. Both Claire and Polly have a deep connection with nature and love to spend time crafting and being creative outside.
