A summary
Be inspired by nature and unleash your artistic side in the beautiful surroundings of the ancient King's Wood forest near Ashford in Kent. A member of the Outdoor Studios team will teach you about the local area during a gentle, guided forest walk, sharing their ecological expertise, revealing how they use nature as their materials, and sharing their own artistic inspirations. After a delicious locally sourced picnic, try your hand at a unique arts and crafts activity inspired by Kentish geology, flora and fauna. You will enjoy one of a range of creative activities including: foraging for items to make natural inks; using a wheelbarrow kiln; learning wild weaving; and cyanotype printing using leaves and flowers. Discover how an entire forest can be your canvas. You'll leave inspired by the rich landscape — and with your very own nature-inspired creation to remember it by. Outdoor Studios artists' expertise across a range of art disciplines will help you feel confident in your creating and your artist guide will support you in whatever you are making. Becoming more mindful, you'll slow down in the landscape, leaving the green canopy with something hand-made and original - a forest artwork to treasure.

Creative Experiential Learning
Outdoor Studios CIC is a mobile resource, offering bespoke art workshops in and around Kent, with a focus on environment and sustainability. Groups benefit from the use of creativity to learn about and respond to geologically and historically rich landscapes, from forests and coasts to town and urban settings. We have experience of working in diverse settings and our workshops can be adapted to any location. These unique learning opportunities are available through the collective expertise of a team of artists with extensive experience of delivering creative workshops connecting groups to natural and urban environments across a range of arts disciplines. Our activities also focus on the rapidly advancing impacts of climate change. We are printmakers, painters, writers, textile artists, photographers, film-makers, sculptors, craftspeople, ceramicists, and sound artists. Creative workshops in woodland areas provide access to an experimental and safe environment for participants to learn about the forest environment through its natural materials. Groups are encouraged to explore tools and techniques through practical, hands-on experience. Outdoor Studios supports all levels and abilities of learning, from Early Years to Higher Education. Our workshops are enhanced by our artists’ knowledge of and reference to site-based contemporary art and our expertise in the natural world and engaging with a wide variety of groups. Evidence-based evaluation of our art workshops and projects are an important part of our offer. Outdoor Studios CIC was formed as a collective in 2016.
