What we'll do
This practical Stone Age themed outdoor day is suitable for Forest School leaders, teachers, youth leaders (Scouts, Guides, Woodcraft Folk etc) etc. The content could support learning for KS2 History, outdoor skills, primitive skills, traditional skills, bushcraft skills. Engage young people in hands-on learning by bringing history alive. We will: ~ look at the major developments of each part of the Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic ages ~ explore, use and make a range of early hunting tools ~ make primitive glue ~ experiment with creating earth pigments for paint ~ use natural materials for crafting cordage ~ prepare and cook fish over a fire with no utensils

I'm Mel and I run Wildly Curious, which provides outdoor learning experiences for young people, mainly focusing on bushcraft and traditional living skills. I'm a trained teacher with 30 years experience, a Scout Leader and an IOL Professional in Outdoor Learning. I also run training for adult groups such as Forest School leaders, the Wildlife Trust, the Woodcraft Folk, Bushscout etc.

When you arrive
On arrival at Manor Farm, Alms Hill, Bourn CB23 2SH, head down the farm driveway and into the main farmyard carpark near Knibbs the butchers shop. Park here. On foot, head around the back of the modern metal barn (not the ancient black one), past the wheelie bins (v glam...), and up the slope, passing the wood pile on your left. You should spot my silver van. Turn left and we're down the track. Accessibility Parking is available nearer to the shelter than the main car park - please contact us for details. Wildly Curious is accessed along an approx 20m wood-chipped track. The shelter area is also wood-chipped. There are 2 wheelchair accessible toilets at the farm. There is a toilet with two low steps at the shelter.
