About your mentor
Annabelle Davis @ The Oast Studio
From Sutura Workshops
I have always believed in the value of learning with our hands. More and more, we live in a world where anything and everything can be obtained at the touch of a button or the swipe of a screen, but this lacks the essential human connection and results in our increasing disconnection from the material world. I work with both private and commercial clients making cushions, bags, homeware and all manner of other sewing projects as bespoke commissions. I have worked with Molly Mahon for the last 7 years, alongside teaching group and one to one workshops. I have over 15 years' experience teaching both children and adults how to work with fabric and textiles.
Learning aims
Aim 1
To understand the qualities of different fabrics and how to choose an appropriate fabric for the project.
Aim 2
To be able to set up a sewing machine correctly and thread a matching bobbin.
Aim 3
To sew basic seams, turn corners and finish seams neatly. To attach handles and add a lining.
