A summary
The Cygnet parenting support programme is for parents and carers of autistic children and young people aged 5-18 with a diagnosis from a professional. There is a 1.5 hour session each week for 7 weeks. It takes place using Zoom. Attending Cygnet gives parents and carers an opportunity to develop their understanding of autism and look at practical solutions to support their child. It also provides the opportunity to meet other people in a similar position and hear about their experiences in an informal but supportive, warm and friendly atmosphere. The course is funded by South Gloucestershire Council, so your child must live in South Gloucestershire for you to qualify.

About your mentor
Turtle Cygnet Training (formerly South Gloucestershire Playscheme)
Children | Young People | Professionals
Turtle CYP was started in 1998 and has been know as ‘Four Towns Play Association’, and most recently, ‘South Gloucestershire Playscheme’. In 2021, we became a registered charity and in 2024 changed our name to Turtle CYP (C = children, Y = young people, P = professionals). The change of name to Turtle CYP was down to us delivering a wider range of services across a wider area. Turtle CYP represents our service users feeling safe under our shell which leads to being able to grow, play, be inspired, use their imaginations, be creative, have fun and look to the future and ultimately, break out of their shell. We provide holiday playscheme, family activities, after school club in Staple Hill, youth workcourses and autism parent support.
