A summary
Join Our Summer Film Project! This summer, young people are invited to take part in an exciting short film project inspired by the discovery of the Winfarthing Anglo-Saxon treasure. Working alongside professional filmmakers, participants will help create a film exploring the remarkable treasure discovered in Winfarthing in 2014 and its significance to local history. There will be opportunities to get involved both in front of and behind the camera, developing filmmaking, storytelling and teamwork skills along the way. The project will be based at Diss Methodist Church and will run from Monday to Friday. As part of the week, participants will enjoy a field trip to Norwich Castle Museum on Tuesday, where they will have the opportunity to see the Winfarthing treasure on display and learn more about this fascinating archaeological discovery. Please note: Participants will need to arrange their own transport to and from Norwich Castle Museum. Places are free, but booking is essential. To find out more or reserve a place, please get in touch. About the Winfarthing Anglo-Saxon Project (WASP) The Winfarthing Anglo-Saxon Project (WASP) is a registered charity (No. 1209427) established in 2024 following a remarkable archaeological discovery in the South Norfolk village of Winfarthing. The discovery revealed the grave of a high-status Anglo-Saxon woman dating from around AD 650, containing exceptional jewellery and artefacts. Subsequent excavations, led by Time Team, uncovered additional graves, suggesting the presence of an Anglo-Saxon cemetery. WASP was created to raise awareness of this important local heritage and help communities connect with the area's newly uncovered history. To learn more, visit: www.winfarthing-anglosaxon.org
