What we'll do
You will be met by friendly, welcoming staff that want to help you reach your full potential. We will meet at the Leisure Centre and start with a swim 10.00am until 11.00am then go back to The Fibrus Community Stadium. When you arrive we have a large selection of games and arts and crafts to try. We have games and sports planned throughout the day but we encourage our groups to choose the activities so that they have ownership on what takes place. We are happy to adapt our plans to meet the needs of the children. We order a lovely lunch for you from a local provider. We have time to chat and socialise each day.

About your mentor
Workington Town Community Trust
Our strength is our friendship.
Workington Town Community Trust aims to promote physical and mental well-being for all in the West Cumbrian area. This will be achieved by providing high quality, personalized activities for all ages and abilities. We are fully inclusive and aim to help individuals achieve their full potential in a welcoming, caring and nurturing environment. We work closely with all 4 teams that play out of The Fibrus Community Stadium where we are based, Workington Town RLFC Men’s and Ladies Teams, Workington Town FC and Workington Netball Team. Our volunteers and players are part of the Derwent Park family which is at the heart of our Trust. As part of a sporting community, we encourage individuals to try new sports and activities in the knowledge that support, and guidance will always be there to help individuals develop the skills they need. We work alongside other sporting, educational, youth work and vulnerable adult groups. Our staff will willingly support other charities and community groups passing their skills on to others to engage them in positive physical activities with the aim to making better life choices. Our Trust is in its infancy and is currently receiving support and sponsorship from the TDA and NoName Travel LTD. We are extremely grateful for their involvement as it enables us to plan long term activities and programs to promote well being and healthy choices to the people in our community.
Try something new
We start the session off with a swim then walk back to The Fibrus Community Stadium. We have access to a full sized rugby pitch, a gym and a wrestle room. We like to develop children's skills within sport and nurture leadership and teamwork. We enjoy encouraging friendships to grow and blossom. We have links with football, netball and boxing so if young people want to try something new we are the team to make that happen. We have a great, diverse staff that work in education, sport and leisure industries and want young people to have fun whilst learning new skills.
