What we'll do
Our club focuses on cultural activities for children of African heritage. However, children of other ethnic groups interested in learning about the culture and traditions of Africa and the Caribbean are welcome to join us. We have a theme that the children are made aware of, and we build our activities around this theme. For example, last Christmas, we focused on Christmas celebrations in the Caribbean, and the previous Easter, we explored Easter celebrations in parts of Africa. There is an exciting programme planned for the children this summer. We will take a whistle-stop tour around the islands to find activities children would do during the summer holidays. We will have a cookout (barbecue) and our very own music festival, among other events. We will incorporate physical activities to promote team building, skill development, and learning about traditional cultural games. Health Education is one of the children's favourites, as we provide demonstrations and learn about cultural foods and healthy eating. The children will have fun making things, some of which they can take home, and will be allowed to develop a range of skill sets.
