A summary

We are continuing our fun outdoor sessions with your little ones during the Summer Term this year, and will be running on two Fridays of each month, There will songs, stories, time to explore and play in the beautiful natural environment at the National Trust's Dapdune Wharf by the River Wey, being creative with nature, enjoying the mud kitchen, crafts from natural resources and spotting wildlife around the site. We do have access to the National Trusts buildings at Dapdune Wharf, should the weather prevent us from being outside for the whole session. After the session why not pop into the site cafe for some lunch and hot drink. Our sessions are a great way for parents and carers to meet up and allow some social connections while your children will enjoy the company of others and have the freedom to play. As I am an external activity provider to the National Trust there is a fee. On-line Bookings and payment need to be received before the day as i need a minimum of 4 families to run a session. On the day bookings can be accepted but please message me on 07932 007335 (payment on the day will need to be in cash if you have not been able to use the online booking platform). Any problems either message or email me. For the session on the 17th July if you have older siblings up to 8 yrs, they are welcome to join you for this session. Julie Johnson

The sessions will be based outdoors, so please come prepared for our seasonal weather, either in warm waterproof clothing and suitable footwear / wellington boots or items to provide sun protection.. Babies in slings/prams can attend foc but once toddling they will need a ticket. A variety of activities will be planned according to ages attending the session. There will be some shelter and on some sessions we will have a campfire where we may toast something yummy for the children, this will be advertised on the booking and dependant upon weather conditions.. If the weather is extremely wet, cold or windy we will use one of the indoor buildings for some crafts, songs and stories.. If the NT venue needs to close due to extreme weather the session will be cancelled and your ticket can be transferred to another date. At the end of the session why not stay have a drink or some lunch at the National Trust tea shop, and enjoy the new play area..

Forest school and early years consultant

I have been working in the early years sector for around 30 years,  I trained as a forest school leader in 2009, and now Chair of Surrey Forest School Association. I have a love for all things Forest School, stories, puppets and creativity outdoors. I am a published author - "Developing Creativity and Curiosity outdoors in early years" with Routledge;, and I recently became a Grandma - so going to have lots more fun with my granddaughter! Now setting up for some new adventures by running Wharf Weenies at the wonderful National Trust centre at Dapdune Wharf Guildford, where I will continue my love of the wonderful outdoors for parents, carers and their toddlers. Hope to see you soon, Best wishes, Julie Johnson

If the venue or organiser has to cancel you will be notified and you will be offered an alternative session date.
