What we'll do
We are offering two trial fun outdoor sessions with your little ones, where we will sing, have stories, explore and play in the beautiful natural environment at the National Trust's Dapdune Wharf by the River Wey. Your little ones will gain confidence in their physical, social and emotional skills, they will enjoy exploring the environment perhaps spot some ducks, , robins, great tits or even the kingfisher. They can be creative with nature, enjoy the mud kitchen, where they can mix up an array of potions, soups and cake for everyone including dragons!. Relax in a hammock, make one for teddy or build a den. It will also be a great way for parents and carers to meet up and allow some social connections while your children will enjoy the company of others and have the freedom to play. Some sessions will include a campfire where we might cook a tasty treat or warm drink, or a craft activity to take home. More sessions will be added later after feedback

About your mentor
Forest school and early years consultant
Support for all when working outdoors with children
I have been working in the early years sector for around 30 years,  I trained as a forest school leader in 2009, and now Chair of Surrey Forest School Association. I have a love for all things Forest School, stories, puppets and creativity outdoors. I am a published author - "Developing Creativity and Curiosity outdoors in early years" with Routledge;, and I recently became a Grandma - so going to have lots more fun with my granddaughter! Now setting up for some new adventures by running Wharf Weenies at the wonderful National Trust centre at Dapdune Wharf Guildford, where I will continue my love of the wonderful outdoors for parents, carers and their toddlers.
What you will need
The sessions will be based outdoors, so please come prepared in warm waterproof clothing and suitable footwear / wellington boots. Babies in slings/prams can attend foc but once toddling they will need a ticket. There will be some shelter and on some sessions we will have a campfire where we may toast something yummy for the children. On sessions where there is no fire, there will be a self service drinks station for parents to access at the start of our session. (bring a travel mug). If the weather is extremely wet, cold or windy we will use one of the indoor buildings for some crafts, songs and stories.. If the NT venue needs to close due to extreme weather the session will be cancelled and your ticket can be transferred to another date.
