What we'll do
A friendly day out where children meet animals, explore the park and enjoy gentle outdoor adventures in a calm, reassuring atmosphere. Small groups and a relaxed pace help every child feel confident and included, with experienced staff offering steady encouragement and clear guidance throughout the trip. Children have time to observe animals up close, follow their curiosity around the park’s natural spaces and take part in simple outdoor activities that build confidence without pressure. The day is designed to be warm, accessible and enjoyable for all abilities, supporting curiosity, wellbeing and a sense of connection with the world around them.

About your mentor
Lawrence Weston Out of School Activities
Every child is unique and valued
We are the only childcare provider for primary school aged children in Lawrence Weston - one of Bristol’s most deprived communities. As a grassroots organisation with 30 years of continuous local presence, and with staff, volunteers, and Trustees living in the area, we have a deep understanding of the challenges facing families experiencing poverty, crisis, and long term disadvantage. Our after school and holiday childcare enables parents to work, train, and stabilise their lives, while providing safe, structured, and nurturing spaces for children who would otherwise be at high risk of criminal exploitation, anti social behaviour, and social isolation. We also offer supported and funded placements for children with additional behavioural, learning, or medical needs, with referrals from schools, SENCOs, Family Support Workers, and Children’s Services. We are a child led, inclusive organisation, adapting activities to each child’s culture, age, ability, and needs. Our aim is to build confidence, wellbeing, and belonging, while promoting equality and opportunity for all.
