What we'll do
Intrigue, cloak and dagger, high drama! Learn the techniques, play the games, find your character. Everyone welcome, whether you're trustworthy or traitorous! From 24th - 27th August, we are hosting a fun-filled and action-packed drama summer school in Brighton at the Hanover Community Centre! Sign your child or young person up for four days of roleplay adventure, where they will learn to act their socks off, convince their friends they're telling the truth, and study spy secret techniques. Using drama games such as Werewolf, Mafia, and Clocktower. Join us in August when we will be teaching your 12-16 year old drama skills about character and communication skills all through the lens of this exciting topic! There is also a 7-11s group, and the age groups will have separate sessions so they can really focus on the things that interest them. And the garden will be open for some outdoor fun and breakout space! All our tutors are trained, professional performers and directors with lots of enthusiasm and experience. Children and young people don’t need any previous experience to join, whether they want to have fun or learn new skills and techniques. A deliciously healthy hot lunch is included every day. "A fantastic creative environment that let’s the children discover and develop their own sense of self." (parent feedback) If you are eligible for HAF places, we expect these to be available but have not had confirmation from the Council yet, so stay tuned! If you'd like to book your 7-11 year old onto the summer school, then please click on our logo next to 'Mentored by ThirdSpace Theatre' at the top of the page.
About your mentor
ThirdSpace Theatre
Open youth company for performers in Sussex
ThirdSpace is Brighton's young people theatre company, providing weekly acting classes for children, teenagers and young adults. We make artistically ambitious, youth-led award-winning contemporary theatre which is co-created with young people. Young people are treated as artists in training, developing their skills to a professional level. They are fully immersed in the real world of an ensemble theatre company, working on productions from start to finish, including behind the scenes, and make work which speaks to them and their experiences, exploring ideas they find challenging or exciting. Classes available for 6 - 25 years old across the city & throughout the week. Free taster sessions available. Free and concession places available. "A fantastic creative environment that let’s the children discover and develop their own sense of self." (Parent feedback) Headed by award winning director Tanushka Marah, ThirdSpace have co-created and performed shows that directly engage with young people their age, making work that platforms young voices and is politically engaging. They most recently appeared in and was commissioned by Brighton Festival 2023 with Bakkhai, a sell-out hit performed on the grounds of the Crew Club and the hills of the South Downs.
