What we'll do
Our 4-hour Forest School sessions offer child-led exploration and discovery, designed to spark curiosity and build confidence in the great outdoors. Here's a glimpse into a typical session: We meet at the parking area. Once our group is complete, we enjoy a short walk across the field to our woodland site. These are drop-off sessions, intended to gently encourage children's independence and confidence. Parents are welcome to stay during their child's very first session if it helps them settle in. Upon arrival, we'll store bags and belongings safely under our shelter. Then, we gather to discuss the day's activities and possibilities. Our site often features hammocks, swings, a scramble net, and a slackline play area. Woodland crafts are available, and there's plenty of opportunity for entirely child-led play. Activities can include: bug hunting, building dens, pond dipping, mud kitchen, water play, or group games. Around noon, we'll gather for a break and enjoy our packed lunches together, sharing stories from our morning adventures. After lunch, if weather permits, we'll safely light a fire. Children are welcome to participate in the fire-lighting process and a cooking activity if they wish. The Forest School leader can facilitate a range of activities, from woodland crafts to foraging, shelter building, or group games, always keeping the children's interests in mind. As our time together concludes, we'll gather at the benches to reflect on our day's discoveries and share our favourite moments. At the end of the session, we all walk together back to the car park area, ready to meet parents.
