A summary
Musical Theatre Workshop (5-11yrs): In five full days, all attendees with tackle the theme of Fantasy. Working with Dominique and Nikki Gerrard who are running their well-loved Musical Theatre Summer School at The Questors Theatre once again! Collaborating as a group to bring to life a range of pieces from popular musical shows using props and costumes to add some flare. A performance for an invited audience of friends and family will take place on the final day. More information will be provided during the week. Musical Theatre Workshop (12-16yrs): In five full days, all attendees with tackle the theme of Science Fiction! Including numbers from shows including Little Shop of Horrors, Back to the Future, The Wizard of Oz and Shrek! Working with Dominique and Nikki Gerrard who are running their well-loved Musical Theatre Summer School at The Questors Theatre once again! Collaborating as a group to bring to life a range of pieces from popular musical shows using props and costumes to add some flare. A performance for an invited audience of friends and family will take place on the final day. More information will be provided during the week. Play in a Week (5-10yrs): To be courageous and brave! This workshop is all about being plucky by jumping into your creative power! We will be building our confidence and expanding our imagination while exploring our own unique expressions. Participants will learn: - Drama games and exercises - Art and movement - Creative writing - Oracy and voice work - Communication skills Using props and costume as our starting point, via games, group activities and individual acting challenges, we will work to create an entirely new play based on the group’s ideas for characters and stories. Play in a Week (11-16yrs): Depending on the time of year, we have a differing selection of workshops. Our flagship course ‘A Play in a Week’ offers children the chance to create their own piece and perform it within the constraint of a working week. Spend a week at Questors creating an original piece of devised theatre. Via vocal and physical drama skills work and various group and individual acting challenges, participants will work with QYT staff to be ready to perform at the end of the week. A performance for an invited audience of friends and family will take place on the final day.

About your mentor
The Questors Theatre
Theatre for the adventurous since 1929
The Questors is one of the largest community theatres in Europe, with a membership of around 1,500, of whom around 600 are actively involved in productions. Questors Youth Theatre (QYT) is a fantastic Youth Theatre which is part of The Questors Theatre in Ealing and offers weekly drama classes for Years 1-13 (ages 5-18). In school holidays we run a variety of multi-day workshops.
What you'll need
Please provide your child with clothing they can comfortably wear. Ideally, they should wear layers which can be taken off, depending on the weather and activities. Please ask your child not to bring valuables to the venue as we cannot guarantee the safety of everyone’s belongings. If they need to bring anything (e.g. a mobile phone) they may give this to the tutors for safekeeping throughout the day. Please note there is a telephone on site which may be used in emergencies, to contact home, etc. Mobile phones must not be used during the workshop. For the final day of the Musical Theatre Workshop, please provide your child with a plain black clothing base which they could comfortably wear underneath a costume. Ideally: - Black slim fit trousers / leggings - Black t-shirt / short sleeve top - Black socks - Black soft shoes (jazz shoes, plimsolls, plain trainers)
When you arrive
The Musical Theatre workshop starts at 11am. We will meet at 10.45 am for Registration at the Main Entrance. The Play in a Week workshop starts at 10am. We will meet at 9.45 am for Registration at the Main Entrance. There is limited parking available for drop off and collection, please be mindful of pedestrians. Participants will stay on site at The Questors Theatre all day and will be supervised during all sessions, lunch and breaks. If you are collecting your child at the end of each day, please make note of the venue and ensure you arrive promptly. Please notify tutors if you need to make arrangements for a friend or relative to collect your child.
