A summary
The Greenway Centre offers a wide range of engaging activities for our young people, including multi-sports, arts & crafts, and gymnastics/dance/drama sessions. Our programmes are designed to promote physical activity, creativity, teamwork, confidence-building, and social development in a safe and supportive environment. Multi-Sports Young people will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of sports and team games, helping to improve fitness, coordination, and teamwork skills while having fun. Arts & Crafts These sessions encourage creativity and self-expression through painting, drawing, model-making, and other hands-on projects. Participants will also have opportunities to take their creations home. Gymnastics / Dance / Drama These activities help build confidence, flexibility, coordination, and performance skills. Young people can explore movement, rhythm, acting, and creative expression in an encouraging setting. In addition, our gymnastics group will take part in special performances for parents on Wednesdays. This gives young people the opportunity to showcase the skills they have been developing and celebrate their progress. More information regarding performance times and arrangements will be provided by staff. Thursday Trips On Thursdays, we plan to take our young people on organised trips to local attractions and places of interest. These outings are designed to broaden experiences, encourage independence, and provide exciting new opportunities outside of the Centre. Please note that pick-up times on Thursdays may vary depending on the trip location and return travel time. Full details, including return times, required clothing, packed lunch information (if needed), and consent requirements, will be provided during the week of activities. We kindly ask parents/carers to speak with a member of staff for up-to-date information each week. If you have any questions, specific concerns, or need additional information about any activity, please do not hesitate to contact us.

About your mentors
The Greenway Centre
Here for our community
The Greenway Centre sits within Super Output Area E01013921 and supports 125-250 young people every year. The ‘Indices of Deprivation’ report 2019 identifies among the top 10% for child poverty and top 5% for deprived neighbourhoods nationally. Greenway is well placed to deliver activities and support to children and young people, having built up a respected reputation since 2012. Staff have over 100 years combined experience of working with disadvantaged children and young people and because of our positive reputation and long-standing local connections, we are able to work with schools and families to identify and target those who have been disproportionately affected by disadvantage. On an average year the centre supports around 600 people with services such as: food banks, young people's term time youth provision, welfare rights and holiday programmes.
Bozenka
Lead Art youth worker and Administrator.
I have worked for Greenway for six years, having first started at the age of 17 as a volunteer. Since then, I have thoroughly enjoyed my journey here and feel proud to be part of the team. Over the years, I have developed both personally and professionally, gaining valuable experience working with young people in a supportive and inclusive environment. I hold several relevant qualifications and training certificates, including Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ADHD awareness, and Equality and Diversity training. These have strengthened my understanding of safeguarding responsibilities, additional needs, and the importance of creating a safe, inclusive space where every young person feels valued and respected. I have a real passion for art and especially enjoy working with young people to explore and develop their creativity. Supporting them to express themselves, build confidence, and take pride in their work is one of the most rewarding parts of my role. I am originally from the Czech Republic and come from a Roma background. I moved to the UK when I was seven years old. My background has helped shape who I am today and allows me to connect with young people and families from diverse communities with understanding, empathy, and cultural awareness.
Bakary Jawo
Compassionate and active individual
Some skills acquired include supporting the delivery of fun games and sporting sessions on a regular, weekly basis with children between the ages of 6 and 16 years old. Another skill developed is the ability to build and maintain good relationships and trust through excellent communication and active listening. This is a part of my ability to be a team player and to successfully navigate changing priorities in fast-paced environments. Experience gained in working at the Greenway Centre Youth Club is that of supporting young people in a group setting. One way I stay proactive in this role is through a desire to continue to learn more by taking part in courses such as those that specify issues such as Child Protection policies & procedures, with further training on Managing Child Behaviour with Street Games.
