What we'll do
Children and young people with SEND, SEMH and LAC engage in outside horse/pony themed or forest school type activities at our 12 acre rural site in Timberland. Most activities are ground based - no riding is involved and no previous experience is necessary. Participants work in partnership with one of our 18 horses and ponies, which are of various temperaments, types and sizes. We follow HETI guidelines to ensure that the highest welfare standards are met for all our equines, and most have come to us as rescues or from welfare centres. Children will learn about the responsibility, practical skills, knowledge and understanding that is needed for the day to day care of animals, in particular horses. Children will meet new friends, horse and human, and participate in a variety of activities, tasks and challenges that develop confidence and skills such as team work, communication, problem solving and empathy, all of which are transferrable into every day life.

Additional information
Further information can be found on our website: jacobsden.org or on our Facebook page: Jacob's Den Equine CIC. Children will make their own lunches from a variety of ingredients and choices and will not need a packed lunch. They will need a water bottle and will have access to water to refill it all day. Please make sure your child comes dressed for the environment and weather in clothes that they will not mind getting dirty. Sun hats will be needed in the summer and children will need to have sun cream applied before arrival or apply it themselves whilst with us. The day begins at 11:00am and we ask that parents/carers do not arrive before this time if possible as parking is limited and the local council have asked to limit parking on the road.
