A summary
Our Holiday programme is designed to be high-energy, aspirational, and fully inclusive. By leveraging our expert staff and versatile facilities, we ensure every young person—including those with neurodiversity or physical disabilities—can participate fully. Below are the types of sessions we are putting on this year: 1. Sport & "Kitchen Crew". We utilise the nearby South Park for a range of physical activities including cycling challenges, rounders, and football. Our adaptive approach means we can modify games for all abilities. Young people will meet the youth team at the Moorlands at the beginning of the session, and walk down to South Park together (DN14 8BD) and we will chosen a team sport for everyone to take part in. Meanwhile the kitchen crew, along with their own team of youth workers, use our industrial kitchen to make food for the entire cohort.. This project builds vocational skills in food ordering, prep, and hygiene. Once the sports activity is concluded, all the young people and youth workers sit together "family-style" to share the meal, fostering social skills and community cohesion in a supportive environment. 2. Creative Arts & Practical Skills. Our staff-led craft sessions are designed to be sensory-friendly and engaging. Activities range from traditional crafts like flower pressing and knitting to technical skills like bike maintenance. There will be something for everyone during these sessions and we will use our versatile spaces where furniture can be moved to accommodate everyone, with quiet zones available for those needing a sensory break. 3. Themed Discovery Days. Our themed days were a huge success last year, and back by popular demand to provide a variety of immersive educational and social experiences. This Year’s Themes include; Circus Day, Museum/Art Gallery Day, World Cup Day, and various Goole Bicentenary events celebrating 200 years of our local history. The Youth Club gets transformed for these sessions, highlighting each theme with decorations, food and activities. 4. Family Excursions. We prioritise families receiving Free School Meals (FSM), making high-quality trips accessible to all. • Clifton Park: A firm favourite featuring a water park and adventure playground. We provide a healthy, communal picnic for all. This is also a favourite for a family day out. • Flamingo Land: Focused on secondary pupils and siblings to foster peer bonding. Whether the young person is a thrill seeker for roller-coasters, or enjoys learning about wildlife, this is a very inclusive trip. 5. Old Goole Environmental Take-Over. This is a youth-led initiative where our OG Environmentalists plan and deliver the sessions. Activities will include an "Octopus Sculpture" day, "Ready, Steady, Bake" challenges, and "Soil to Table" workshops. Every session includes a Q&A, themed food, and our popular Blooket and Bingo challenges to reinforce learning through play. This has been a much loved session, especially for our young people local to Old Goole, to learn about why we should look after the environment and to take pride in the area we live in.
