Summer Holiday Club block mentored by Lymley Wood

A summary

Join our forest school style sessions learning about nature, the environment and exploring the woodland. Take part in scavenger hunts, build bug hotels and learn natural crafts. Master bush crafting skills in activities such as fire lighting, den building and archery. Challenge yourself in our team games with football, rounders etc Free active, imaginative, child led play utilising our field and woodland. Explore and connect with the natural space. Jump out of your comfort zone on our adventure playground, check out the low ropes course, jumping nets, mini zip wire and swings. Make friends round the campfire with songs and marshmallows! ***This activity has been funded through the Department for Education’s (DfE) Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme and coordinated by East Sussex County Council. Free places are available for young people eligible for benefits-related free school meals. This eligibility criteria has been defined by the DfE. Additionally young people in several other target cohorts can attend funded places, such as those with SEND or Looked After Children (LAC). Please note, eligibility will be confirmed as part of the booking process.***

Nature based activities & outdoor adventures!

Lymley Wood CIC provides facilitated day and residential activity experiences and sessions for children, young people, families and community groups. We are passionate about outdoor learning and promote 'Nature Connectedness' in everything we do! Our sessions are set in a safe, secure, private woodland with super friendly, caring and experienced staff. We make a real effort get to know all our children at holiday club and want every child, no matter what their needs, interests or quirks, to have wonderful time playing in the woods.

A teacher & mum who knows how to have fun!

I originally worked as a learning support assistant in mainstream school and found myself drawn to younger children. I fell in love with the Waldorf / Steiner education from the moment I walked through the Steiner Kindergarten door. I completed my Waldorf / Steiner early years teacher training alongside working as an assistant at Michael Hall Steiner school. I became a teacher and started a kindergarten with a new group of children and families. I was fortunate to have several happy years there before starting my own family. I am now a busy home maker and mother to three young children. Four years ago I started Kindergarten Magic, my indoor Steiner inspired parent and child and kindergarten for home educated families and children of pre school age. Alongside this, I started up a Steiner inspired outdoor parent and child group, called Woodland Magic. I wanted to embrace my Forest school leader qualification and felt that Waldorf/Steiner education ties in beautifully with our natural environment. I have been running for the past 1.5 years at the wonderful Lymley Woods. It is my aim to reconnect families with nature, to help foster a nature connection whilst having fun and creating magic and wonder for both the child and the parent. I try to offer seasonal festivals and celebrations, which are often shared in a Steiner school to a wider population throughout the year such as Easter and Martinmas. These celebrations occur at Lymley Woods. Over the past year I have ran children's birthdays parties, from 3 to 9 years of age. The party’s have been in the woods, in the family home or a village hall. I offer a tailor made, magical & fun experience for this special occasion. Creating magic and wonder is a key component to everything I try to do. It is my true hope that it reaches out to the whole family ?

HAF funded places

Families living in East Sussex who are in receipt of benefit related Free School Meals are able to request a free place at holiday club. We have limited free places , all funded by East Sussex Council. Some free places are also allocated to children with SEND needs. If you think that your child qualifies for a free place then please request one at booking and the council will then approve the place, if eligible.

Subsidised SEND

This is for children who have additional needs or their siblings. The tickets are subsidised by High Weald National Landscape Partnership, to support children to engage in outdoor nature based opportunities. We do not require evidence of SEND diagnosis. If your child had particular needs, and its your first time at Lymley please contact us to discuss their needs directly. We are not able to provide 1:2:1 support but have high staff ratios at out clubs.
