Please copy and paste this link to download a copy of the consent form and return it to me. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wAov28_c4YTf-iExXusK6j4FlGLv0o3b/edit The British Boxing awards are run by qualified coaches and overseen and certificated by England boxing. Please contact me using the "Message Mentor" button if you have any more questions. These awards constitute a safe way to learn skills in boxing and self-defence. They involve learning the foundation and core skills of the sport in a fun, challenging and safe way. The course is non-contact and participants will work towards a certificate and points can be put towards a GCSE if they complete all levels.
About your mentor
Olly Room
Waldorf PE teacher and amateur boxer
I am a qualified British boxing awards coach and have been involved with boxing for over 25 years. I am an amateur middleweight boxer and triathlon athlete and have enjoyed taking part in many sporting events to raise funds for charity. I have been a PE teacher for 15 years and currently work at Michael Hall School. I have an interest in bringing Bothmer principles to physical education for children from 7 to 18 years. Within an educational setting, Bothmer Movement applies the understanding of child development to a curriculum that meets the child where he/she is, introducing competition and increasingly complex physical skills through games, gymnastics and sport. But the exercises are as beneficial for adults of any age and background as for children. For example, the five 'Greek gymnastic exercises', (running, jumping, wrestling, discus and javelin) are an integral part of speech and drama trainings, supporting students' awareness of their body in space as well as their preparation and delivery of text as speech. They are also recognised for their therapeutic value in physiotherapy, occupational therapy and so on.
