Join our brand new Forest School, Strive in the Wild this Summer! Led by Forest School Level 2 Leader & Director of Strive Rob Denness. Our Unique Forest School Features: Our Forest School site is at St Michael’s RC Primary School (Chatham), we’re proud to host a truly special Forest School site that includes: A safe and welcoming fire circle – perfect for nature chats, reflection, and marshmallow roasting A mini nature trail for discovery and observation A wide variety of trees for learning, climbing, and crafting Materials for den and shelter building A nature kitchen for mud pies, potions, and more! Open-ended natural resources for imaginative play What to Expect at a Session - ✅ Site exploration and safety checks - Always begin the session. Mindfulness activity: 5 things you can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear, 2 you can smell, 1 you can taste Treasure hunt: Find a special object in nature that stands out to you and share why Leaf & stick collecting: Gather and discuss different shapes, sizes, and types Treasure Buckets: Mud painting, Bug hunting, Digging with trowels & Nature bracelets. Tool use: Learn how to safely cut your own branches using real toolsDen building: Create shelters for small animals (or little humans!) Fire making: Practice with cotton wool and kindling; then gather around for a proper campfire and toast marshmallows! What Will Children Learn? Confidence and independence Teamwork and communication Risk-taking in a safe environment Fine and gross motor skills Awareness of the natural world Respect and care for the environment What to Wear: Forest School Kit List: Please ensure your child arrives dressed appropriately for the weather and terrain: Long-sleeved top and long trousers (for protection from scratches, sun, and stings) Sturdy boots or wellies (if possibly) Spare socks (essential if feet get wet) Sun hat (warm day) Waterproof coat and trousers (in case of rain) Sweatshirt or warm layers (in colder weather) Please note that on the day parents will be asked to sign our Forest School Medical Information Form.
