What we'll do

Own a Pony - Pony care and riding sessions These are 2 1/2 hour fun horse care sessions held in the school holidays for children over 5, with or without additional needs. They include grooming, tacking up, tack cleaning, mucking out, feed preparation and a riding lesson where the children will learn the basics of riding correctly in walk and trot. Numbers are limited to 10, and children are fully supervised by qualified staff and experienced volunteers. All riding safety equipment is provided.

The RDA Unicorn Centre

To offer riding to all people

The Unicorn Centre, a self-funded registered charity, is a purpose-built riding for the disabled facility offering riding therapy and training opportunities for adults and children from the Tees Valley area with special educational needs and disabilities. Opened in 1998, the Centre is an established part of the local community, and has a strong contingent of local volunteers who play an active and vital part in delivering our activities. We provide horse-based activities such as riding, equine therapy and volunteering for young people and adults with additional needs in our fully accessible state-of-the art-equestrian facility. With a range of other programmes and activities that help people develop life skills, emotional intelligence and wellbeing, all activities are led by our qualified staff team and supported by our amazing volunteers.

What you'll need

Please wear suitable footwear. Fully covered shoes, no flipflops or crocs. This is the case for anyone attending or guardians staying to watch. All other safety equipment will be provided. Please bring your own water bottle.
