A summary
Our SEND day sessions are designed to provide an inclusive, open, and welcoming environment where children and parents can explore our gym and try our British gymnastics equipment. With qualified coaches, Makaton-friendly staff, and a flexible drop-in option, we aim to create a space where every child can thrive. Join us and discover the joy of gymnastics in a supportive and adaptable setting, where the needs of every family are met with understanding and care. The drop-in option provides several benefits: • Flexibility – Families can come and go as they please, fitting the session into their busy schedules. • Reduced Anxiety – Children and parents can attend without the pressure of staying for the entire duration, making it easier to manage any anxiety or stress. At our gym, we pride ourselves on creating an inclusive, open, and welcoming environment where children and parents can explore and enjoy a variety of activities. Our SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) day sessions are designed with the unique needs of each child in mind, ensuring a supportive and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. This session includes lunch for every gymnast and their accompanying adult (parent/guardian/carer).

About your mentor
Viva Gymnastics Club
Making Gymnastics Accessible for Every Child
Viva Gymnastics Club was set up in 2018 to provide gymnastics sessions to children in the Portsmouth area, including those with a variety of disabilities and additional needs who have often found themselves excluded from the sport of gymnastics In 2020, our Club faced the many challenges of the COVID pandemic and continued to provide gymnastics activities to children via Zoom and, when allowed, via outdoor sessions near Southsea Common. The Club and its members supported each other through this difficult time. Our Club is now a registered charity and has the objective of ensuring that disabilities and additional needs are not a barrier to participation in gymnastics. In addition to its growing SEND programme, the Club provides fun and advanced gymnastics sessions for children of all ages and abilities. Our coaches, support staff and volunteers are passionate, kind, supportive and experienced people with a wealth of experience in gymnastics and in special educational teaching. Kindness is at our core.
What you'll need
It's important to stay hydrated during physical activity, so gymnasts please ensure you bring a full water bottle with you; we also have a water refill station. Gymnasts, please also ensure that you're dressed appropriately for the sport - ie, in leggings or shorts, a t-shirt, a jumper or hoodie - in other words, comfortable clothes you can jump around in!
How to find us
We are based at the Skill Centre in Limberline Spur, off Norway Road in Hilsea, where you can also find Lidl and the Toby Carvery. At the roundabout near Lidl, turn off at Gunstore Road, go left onto Limberline Road and right onto Limberline Spur, then follow the road all the way round to the gates of the Skill Centre. Turn left through the gates, go all the way to the end of that road (past what used to be Basecamp) and turn right, and you'll find us there at Unit 8B where there are some dedicated parking spaces. You can also find us using the What3Words app using FEEL.MEANT.BOOST
