A summary
Science, Sustainability and Chemical Reactions Get ready for an exciting hands-on science adventure where young scientists will explore the fascinating world of chemical reactions while discovering how science can help create a more sustainable future. During this engaging session, children will conduct a fun science experiment that demonstrates how different substances react when combined. They will observe changes, make predictions, record results, and develop their scientific investigation skills while learning the basic principles behind chemical reactions. Participants will then take on the role of environmental engineers by designing and building their own DIY water filters. Through this practical challenge, they will explore how filtration systems can help remove impurities from water and why access to clean water is important for communities around the world. The activity is linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, helping children understand how science and innovation can contribute to solving real-world environmental challenges. This interactive workshop encourages curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity in a fun and supportive environment. By combining scientific discovery with sustainability education, children will gain valuable STEM knowledge while developing a greater awareness of how they can help protect our planet for future generations.
