What we'll do
ROKT Foundation offers an array of indoor adventure activities including bouldering, roped climbing, indoor caving and indoor abseil. We also offer enrichment activities including Escape Rooms and puzzle boxes. If the weather is good we venture out to local nature reserves for nature walks and lunch by the canal. we work with lots of other sports and arts organisations so we can provide boxing, karate, dance and drumming. Our activity programmes are many and varied! We will provide snacks on arrival and a healthy lunch too. Our programme is spread over 4 weeks and activities change weekly. Children can attend a maximum of 4 sessions over the course of the programme. We recommend booking one session per week to ensure your child has the chance to engage in different activities. We have a specific session each programme, designated for children with SEND. This is a group session and does require those partaking to have a level of mobility as activities are spread over several floors, independence and the ability to follow instructions. About your mentor
ROKT Foundation
Engage, Empower, Inspire
ROKT Foundation is an active urban adventure charity where we support people through climbing and physical activities. We will help you to build confidence, make friends, improve climbing skills and engage in new activities. We have one of the highest indoor climbing walls in Yorkshire, hundreds of bouldering routes, an indoor caving system, indoor chimney abseil and the highest manmade outdoor wall in the UK. We have expertise in supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities and have a sensory space as part of our offer. All of our qualified climbing instructing staff have specialist skills in supporting children to climb through 'Climbing for All' and FUNdamentals training.
What we provide
Sessions are from 10am-2pm with snacks on arrival. Then children will have activities all morning with regular breaks in between. Lunch is served at 1.30pm and pick up is 2pm.
Learning aims
Aim 1
Children will have developed basic skills in climbing, understanding safety techniques and how to follow instructions from their climbing instructor.
Aim 2
We incorporate a lot of food awareness within our activity sessions. Children will learn how to buy food on a budget for a family of four in a fun and creative way.
Aim 3
With our Escape Room provision, children will learn to work as a team and solve puzzles to support their escape. The rooms encourage reading, sharing ideas and creative thinking.
