Riverside Primary School
Ancora Imparo ... "I am still learning"
Our core values and curriculum ensure that the children of Riverside work and play harmoniously. School life is rated ‘significant,’ in comparison to other schools regionally and nationally because we place importance on our children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. As a school of sanctuary, we take our responsibility to make sure everyone feels included and safe. Our curriculum focuses on the well-being and progress of every child and where all members of our community are of equal worth. In addition, we run a highly successful, LA funded Social Emotional Mental Health inclusion base for children from across the borough. We actively encourage parents to become involved in their children’s education. Our school is well-resourced with talented and committed staff and a passionate governing body. Working together as a school family, we make sure that children are both happy and successful at school.
Community Capacity Builders CIO
Empowering Lives, Enriching Futures
Community Capacity Builders is a non-profit organisation formed in 2019 to assist in the support of disadvantaged and vulnerable children, young people and adults living in the Liverpool City Region. This includes those suffering from mental and/or physical illness, through our provision of a range of mental health therapy, physical activities and financial education activities. We are delivering services that are not readily available through statutory authorities, or affordable through private provision. Our outcomes are to improve, facilitate and empower personal growth and improve life-chances through the delivery of our structured programmes. We have decades of combined experience of working with charities/not-for-profit organisations ranging from children/young people, mental-health and post-cancer patient care. Since we were formed 4 years ago, we have helped improve the health, well-being and quality of life of thousands of people locally. We are also in the process of changing our legal status from a Community Interest Company (CIC) to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).
Learning aims
Aim 1
To develop fitness, mobility and sports skills through various fun activities, games, mini-matches and small sided games. Children and young people will engage in a wide range of age-appropriate physical activities designed to enhance their cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, flexibility, coordination, and agility. By incorporating fun and engaging formats such as tag games, obstacle courses, relay races, and modified versions of popular sports, participants are more likely to stay motivated and enthusiastic. Mini-matches and small-sided games (e.g., 3v3 or 5v5) allow for more frequent ball touches, decision-making opportunities, and involvement in the action, which helps build technical skills, game understanding, and confidence in a supportive environment.
Aim 2
To improve their social and emotional skills, develop teamwork and communication. Physical activity sessions provide a valuable platform for children to develop essential life skills. Through collaborative games and team challenges, participants learn to communicate effectively, support one another, resolve conflicts constructively, and celebrate shared success. These experiences help build empathy, patience, and a sense of responsibility. Children also gain confidence, develop leadership qualities, and learn the importance of resilience and a positive attitude, especially when facing setbacks or challenges.
Aim 3
To learn about the importance of nutrition and healthier lifestyles. Alongside physical development, it’s crucial that children understand how their choices impact their overall well-being. Through interactive lessons, participants will learn about the benefits of balanced diets, proper hydration, and regular physical activity. They’ll explore how good nutrition supports energy levels, concentration, and long-term health.
