What we'll do
We explore the River Dart estuary in giant canoes, spotting wildlife, learning about rivers, local history and maybe some pirate stories. We'll stop on the shore somewhere accessible only by boat. Here we build a fire, cook up some food, have a brew, maybe play some games, catch some crabs, chat, chill, appreciate our beautiful location, whatever is appropriate to the age and interests of the group on the day. Riverschool participants will be able to show off their bushcraft and wild cooking skills! We watch the tide turn and once it is running in our favour we paddle back home. Think of your Canoe Adventure as a whole day out. A proper adventure. Paddling is easy for everyone in big, stable canoes, 6-12 people in each. No prior experience needed! Each canoe is skippered by fun, qualified skipper/guide with bushcraft and adventure experience and expert in providing good fun times for parties. We have been running these adventures since 1999. They are remembered as 'the best day of the holidays' by children up and down the country, many of whom are now grown up and bringing their own children! Proper, timeless, healthy fun for friends and family to enjoy together on the water and on the shore. We meet at the Quay, Stoke Gabriel, by the Riverschack Devon, where there is parking, cafe, toilets, and bus stop 4-5minute walk away. We allow 15-20 minutes for welcome and introductions, getting kitted up, safety brief and paddle instruction.

Riverschool Holiday Club
Proper Adventures on the River Dart Estuary
We provide fun and rewarding outdoor education and adventure activities for children and adults on the River Dart estuary. We have unique BIG canoes that are very stable, safe and inclusive to all ages and abilities. Riverschool Holiday Club is an initiative of Canoe Adventures Ltd. We have been operating since 1999. We’re licenced by Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (HSE), Dart Harbour Authority, and are Ofsted Registered. (Reg no. 2731749)
What else do you need to know?
Come dressed for a day outdoors. Sturdy footwear and nothing too precious - little ones are very likely to come home muddy and smelling of woodsmoke! We'll cook up some food together on the shore and provide some snacks. You'll need a water bottle each, sun hat, suncream, warm layers, waterproofs. Swimming things (but we can't guarantee swimming).

Cancellation Policy
Free bookings do not require refunds but as places are limited, please cancel if you cannot attend so that your place can be offered to someone else.We need a minimum number of 6 adults or paddling teens to operate our canoes safely. We need to know numbers and approximate ages of all under 18s.

My experience consists of a leisure activity, on a specific date(s), and therefore the 14-day ‘cooling off period’ under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply.
