Poetry is a wonderful way to mine our experiences for the treasures they can yield. This block of 7 sessions will explore poems as word windows into a heightened and meaningful reality. Students will write their own new poems that rearrange the surface world into deeper truth and startling beauty and will travel the world of poems already written by accomplished poets.
Students will cultivate the music and power of their own poetry-speaking voices. Learning to appreciate and develop elements of poetry such as metre, rhythm and metaphor will challenge and empower the students’ creativity and sense of craftsmanship. Each 90-minute session will involve both reading and writing.

I am a published poet. I have been a Waldorf teacher for 19 years. I was a Class Teacher at Michael Hall for 16 years. I wrote and directed many Class 12 plays and other performances such as musicals and operas. I am an international advisor on Waldorf education and regularly visit China. I have a diploma from Artemis School of Speech and Drama in East Grinstead. I am currently running in Drama in Education course in China and have worked as a writer and director with touring companies in the UK.
