A long time ago Friedrich Froebel said “Play is the highest expression of human development in childhood, for it alone is the free expression of what is in a child’s soul”.
Fast forward 187 years and today we live in a society that disregards, limits and even fears play in childhood. Play is often misunderstood, unsupported and considered a distraction from ‘real learning’.
Yet (if you agree with Froebel) it’s how we express our soul…
As Forest School practitioners we can bring people back to their authentic selves through play – rekindling their curiosity, courage and resilience – to bear their much needed soul to the world!
