Play & Perform Spring Creative Intensive

The Bright Foundation

A summary
Join us for a week-long creative adventure working with a team of amazing artists. Develop your skills in performance, art and design - just 15 places available!
Over five days participants will create, design, rehearse and then perform a self-devised play! Inspired by Earth Day, the focus will be on the environment and our place within it.
You will work with our Arts & Theatre Learning Leader Poppy Rowley, Hastings artist and designer Rebecca Child, and Musician and Creator Bev Lee Harling to create your own stage performance in the Barn Theatre.
You will draw upon the items in the collection in John Bright's Museum and the things you make over the week will become part of the set for the show.

The Bright Foundation
The Bright Foundation
The Bright Foundation is an arts education charity founded by Academy Award winning costume designer John Bright. We offer a programme of life enhancing creative learning to children and young people, particularly those experiencing disadvantage. The programme includes school visits, summer schools, performance projects, cross-curricular learning, wellbeing retreats, volunteering, family festivals, skills training, and career support. The Barn Theatre and Museum is set in 24 acres in a rural location just outside Hastings. The Barn Theatre is a 50 seat children’s theatre and workshop studio that presents inspirational puppet shows and theatre productions to children, young people and their families. The adjoining museum showcases John Bright’s personal collection of period toys, puppets and theatre sets dating from the 18th century to the present day. The Benbow Arts Space in St Leonards-on-Sea offers a programme to support young people between the ages of 11-21 to pursue their training and career ambitions, inspired by John Bright’s Early Cinema Exhibition.

Cancellation policy
Our cancellation policy comes into effect two weeks before the start date of the project. Please let us know at the earliest opportunity if your child is no longer able to come. As places are limited, we are not in a position to refund if your child’s participation is cancelled any closer to this date, unless we can fill the space.
My experience consists of a leisure activity, on a specific date(s), and therefore the 14-day ‘cooling off period’ under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply.
