What we'll do
OSCA offer a range of age-appropriate activities and resources which are used under safe, supervised conditions, considering the needs of each child, to promote their physical, intellectual and social development, although it is often the children’s lead we follow on the day. We are fortunate we can offer a variety of activities and choice. Children are involved in planning activities via a suggestion box. We invite volunteers to teach specific arts & crafts, i.e., (tie dying) and have sports providers in to teach new skills/sports or practice ones they enjoy, e.g., archery as well as experienced chefs to support children in preparing and cooking a meal. Other activities we offer include, colouring, creative craft resources, board games, puzzles, den building, a trim trail, pond dipping, gardening opportunities, woodland walks, structured, adult led group activities, hall time activities (especially on wet days), but will always allow for child-initiated play and are always mindful that ALL children are engaged throughout the day both indoors and outdoors. This is illustrated on our “wall of awesomeness”, our photo display boards within our club room which the children like to look at and talk about and remember what they did. OSCA always offer the opportunity of physical & outdoor activities as we have a large play area where the children can use the ‘trim trail’, have use of skateboards, scooters, skipping ropes and other sports equipment such as tennis & badminton racquets, hockey, table tennis to name a few.

About your mentor
OSCA Childcare Limited
"Having fun makes you smile!"
OSCA Childcare Limited is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing high-quality wraparound childcare for children aged 4–11 within the community. We aim to create a warm, welcoming “home from home” environment, with safeguarding always at the heart of our work. As an Ofsted-approved provider, we offer breakfast, after-school, and holiday clubs in a safe, positive, and stimulating setting. Our provision includes a wide range of age-appropriate activities, both indoors and outdoors, along with healthy, freshly prepared meals.
Food Provision
We provide breakfast from 8am to 9am, a mid morning snack around 10am, followed by a hot lunch at 12noon and a light tea at approximately 4:30pm. Weekly or holiday menus can be provided in advance for families wishing to view them. We provide cooking experiences for the children to prepare both hot meals, light lunches, vegetables, and puddings, with the intention that this will be reinforced in their home environment to increase knowledge and skills acquired. All menus are devised using the school menus and the School Food Standards guidance alongside the children's input. They are on display for all parents and children to view. We can accommodate many dietary requirements including but not limited to: • Vegetarian • Vegan • Gluten-free options • Lactose free We speak with parents of children with allergies and intolerances and ask all parents about their child's food preferences so we can meet individual needs, including those of "fussy eaters".
A Day at OSCA
Our day begins at 8:00am, where children are welcomed by our caring and friendly team. Children arriving in the morning can enjoy our breakfast buffet, which includes a selection of cereals, toast and crumpets with various toppings. Children are encouraged to independently choose and prepare parts of their breakfast, helping to develop confidence and life skills (with staff supporting safety with them). After breakfast, children are free to explore and enjoy the wide range of activities available around OSCA. Children may choose to: • Play with toys and games • Take part in arts and crafts • Help prepare food in the kitchen (under staff supervision) • Ride scooters and skateboards • Play football and ball games • Use climbing and play equipment • Spend time on the field or outdoor areas • Relax with friends in quieter spaces • Read books or play STEM games At OSCA we strongly believe that children should enjoy their time with us. Children are never forced to take part in activities. We provide a variety of opportunities and encourage participation, while allowing children the freedom to make choices about how they spend their time. We pause during the morning for a mid-morning snack, typically fruit and biscuits. At lunchtime, all children sit together and enjoy a freshly prepared cooked meal and pudding made onsite by OSCA staff. Children often enjoy helping prepare food and may even assist in serving their friends, building confidence and encouraging independence. Whenever possible, we enjoy eating outdoors. After lunch, children have some quieter time where they can relax and enjoy a film or calm activities before continuing their afternoon of fun. Later in the afternoon children enjoy a lighter tea and pudding before spending the remainder of the day choosing activities they enjoy before collection time. Children can be collected anytime before 6:00pm.
