Meet the Team

Meet the Team – Coach Sophie Sophie is the Female Football Pathway Manager at Oldham Athletic Community Trust, bringing with her over 7 years of coaching experience and a UEFA B qualification. She has worked with top clubs including Coventry City, Derby County, and Manchester United, as well as gaining international experience coaching in Beijing, China, and with the Welsh national setup. Her passion lies in opening doors for girls in football — creating safe, welcoming spaces where every girl can enjoy the game, build confidence, and feel part of a supportive team. Coach Eva – Volunteer Coach Eva is our first female volunteer coach on the programme! She coaches the girls during sessions and will be supporting the wider Oldham Athletic female football pathway. Eva is passionate about helping girls enjoy football, develop their skills, and grow in confidence on and off the pitch. Her enthusiasm and energy make her a fantastic role model, and she’s dedicated to ensuring every player feels included, supported, and inspired. Oldham Athletic Community Trust works in partnership with Fullcircle, a social enterprise with a mission to reinvest profits into the community. What to Expect at a Girls’ Kicks Session

So, you’re wondering what our football sessions are like? Here’s a little look at what to expect: When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into a warm, friendly environment and register with Coach Sophie at the door. We always start by sitting down as a group for a quick catch-up — chatting about how everyone’s doing and answering one of Sophie’s fun conversation starter questions. Next up is our Skill of the Week Challenge, where Coach Sophie introduces a new skill for you to try out. After that, we move into a couple of fun games, each week based on a different theme, to help you practice in an exciting way. We always finish with a small-sided game, giving you the chance to put your new skills into action, work as a team, and most importantly, have fun! There are plenty of breaks along the way and loads of opportunities to have the ball at your feet. It’s all about learning, laughing, and enjoying football together.
