A summary
Having access to a wide range of new experiences with friends and trusted adults can really boost Young people's learning, enrich their lives and raise their confidence and aspirations. This isn't always possible for some of the young people in our community because the costs of these experiences can limit what parents are able to provide. Over the summer weeks, it's the biggest opportunity to make sure young people can benefit from having access to these opportunities which is why this programme exists. Our Summer Trips programme provides a list of off-site activities for young people to choose from, ranging from water sports to field activities designed to promote teamwork, encourage resilience and build confidence. We're taking young people kayaking, coasteering, mountain biking, swimming, surfing, bush crafting, hiking and foraging and other activities; these activities will provide new experiences as well as opportunities to leave their usual setting easing pressure from parents in the process. Oasis Hub Youth services are built on safe and trusted relationships with young people. Therefore, any young person who wants to join a Summer HAF trip, needs to have participated in at least two Oasis Waterloo Hub Youth drop-in sessions before going on a trip.
