A summary
Have you heard about the benefits of Nordic Walking? Would you like to find out more about the technique? Perhaps you'd like to come to a taster session to see if it's something that you'd like to learn how to do. During this one-hour session you will learn about the origins and benefits of Nordic Walking. You will be provided with a pair of Nordic Walking poles that are fitted to your size and you will be introduced to the 10-step technique that is used to teach Nordic Walking by British Nordic Walking instructors. The session will start with a gentle warm up and then a combination of exercises and drills will be used to introduce the 10-steps. We will finish with cool down stretches. The taster session is suitable for all ages and levels of ability - "If you can walk, you can Nordic Walk." Following the session there will be the opportunity to further develop your technique by joining a Nordic Fitness Walk or booking further small group tuition or a 1:1 session.

About Nordic Walking
Nordic Walking uses specially designed poles to enhance your natural walking experience. With a technique that is similar to the upper body action of classic cross-country skiing, Nordic Walking is a whole-body exercise that can be enjoyed at many levels, from walking for health to athletic Nordic running. More than 10 million people globally enjoy this outdoor activity all year round. Nordic Walking combines the simplicity and accessibility of walking with simultaneous core and upper body conditioning similar to Nordic skiing. The result is a full body workout, which means that you: • burn up to 46% more calories compared to walking without poles • release tension in the neck and shoulders • improve your posture and gait • strengthen your back and abdominal muscles • reduce the impact on the joints And because Nordic Walking doesn’t feel like hard work, you’ll be happy to walk further and for longer.
